I am very sad.
See, since I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes I’ve been put on this “special” diet. I have to eat 6 times a day, at set times, and set amounts of foods. I also have to eliminate and include foods. One of those foods I’m supposed to get some of each time I eat is protien.
I’m not an egg person, so breakfast has been hard, I’ve eaten mostly toast with peanut butter on it. And snacks? it’s either been cheese (cottage cheese or regular) or peanut butter. Lunch is normally either left overs or more peanut butter and supper are easy to get protien, because that’s when I cook meat.
So I eat peanut butter anywhere from 2-5 times a day. Good thing I like peanut butter.
But I’ve noticed a few things. One of those thingsis red itchy spots on my arm and chest and neck. I thought it was associated with the poison ivy i had, because it showed up at the same time. but the poison ivy is gone, and more and more red itchy spots are showing up. I’ve realized now that these spots are hives. The other thing is the stomach issues. Every time I eat peanut butter my stomach hurts terribly and TUMs have to come to the rescue- sometimes they work sometimes they don’t.
So I’ve decided peanut butter must be eliminated from my diet, at least for awhile, then maybe I can have it in small amounts. But now I don’t know what to have as protien. I can eat cheese, but too much of that causes issues already common in pregnancy. HELP!!! What can I have as protien? other than the obvious big juicy steak. I will say I do not like beans, so please don’t tell me to eat those.
Humph. I’ve heard of this happening, but never thought I would end up with a case of peanut butter allergy.
