Yes, I am blogging again! So quickly! Amazing.
Honestly I am just bored. what? yes I said bored. I don’t know the last time I was bored. The girls went to bed early because Caylee only had one nap today and Lexi was up REALLY late at her cousin’s house last night (she was refusing to go to bed). I have two teenage girls in my house who are busy playing on computers in other rooms and my husband is out of town. Weird.
So I’m blogging.
There is one week until my race, I ran 9 miles this morning and I’m kinda nervous about the race. My training took a turn for the worse when we moved here, suddenly I wasn’t strong enough to push my mind through being tired and started walking on my runs. In fact I think 9 miles is the longest I’ve ran without walking at all. I have managed to get all my runs in and do the distance. Even when some walking was done I’ve managed to keep my time at an average of about a 10 minute mile. Some runs I’ve kept at a 9 minute mile!
The past week and a half has been bad for me with dieting too. The Easter candy in the house and all the yummy desserts we had for Easter got me on bad snacks again. I haven’t really gained any weight, but I haven’t really lost any either.
All in all I keep trying to remind myself of the progress that has been made over the past 4 months. It all started with God too. In January I looked at my life and was not happy with where I was physically or Spiritually and decided it needed to be changed. I started with some major time with God which turned into an amazing month of growing closer to Him. At the same time it triggered my desire to be healthier and lose weight.
It started with eliminating Coffee, Soda and snacking, then I decided I wanted to start running and was encouraged to sign up for a race. So I mentioned to someone that I was thinking about running a half marathon. Suddenly about half a dozen people heard I was running one and I had to start training.
That was the best thing that could have happened to me though, because I don’t think I would have ever thought I could run one if it wasn’t for that pressure that I felt. Within a week I went from barely running 2 miles to running 6 without stopping.
It’s been 13 weeks, I’ve lost 35lbs, gone down 3-4 pants sizes and am getting ready to run my first half marathon. Crazy! I’m hoping to regain my focus this week, stay away from the candy and be ready to push myself hard on Saturday. When I ran my 8K last year the only thing that kept me going was my sister telling me “when this race is done you don’t ever have to run again if you don’t want to!” That was encouraging at that point in time, and honestly I didn’t think I ever would run again!
I have plans to continue running after my half though, don’t worry. I’ve even thought about continuing my training and go for a full, but at this point in time I don’t think that kind of training fits very well into our schedule. Instead I plan on working on hills and speed, running 3 times a week, 1 day easy, 1 day hills and 1 day longer runs (like 6 miles) but focus on speed work. I want to get faster and be able to run hills, and then run a 10k or something and kick some butt!
