Sunday was the Christmas program at church. I love watching little kids when they are given the space to be able to show off their abilities. It was so adorable. The 2-5 year olds were allowed to join with the older Children’s choir to sing Joy to the World at the beginning and end of the program. There were 2 showings, so they got to sing it 4 times.
We weren’t sure how well Lexi was going to do since at the rehearsals she wouldn’t stand up on the risers with the rest of the kids. Adding to that, she refused to take a nap Sunday, so we were sure it was going to be a disaster. Regardless, we dressed her up in her Christmas PJ’s and headed to church, camera in hand.
Much to our surprise, she not only stood up there for the whole song each time, she even sang a bit! Here are some shots I took (one handed because I was also holding a sleeping Caylee- Eugene was playing drums for the choir so he couldn’t help).
All the kids, Lexi is in the front middle, with pink pj’s- the shortest one there.
that’s what she did most of the time- looked at all the other kids.
a little late on the clapping, but she got it in!
I love this shot because it shows all the younger kids just kinda standing there like “what are we supposed to be doing?”
between showings we all went into the gym for some snacks and music. Lexi enjoyed the flowers.
of course she had to touch each one.
This was one lovely young woman trying to keep all the kids in one spot and entertained before the 2nd showing started. Lexi is trying to snap in this picture.
this was the last shot I got before the little girl next to her got a little too charismatic in her arm swinging and accidentally hit Lexi right in the face, which made Lexi cry and get down off the risers and run towards her daddy, who as I mentioned was playing the drums. A lady stepped in and grabbed Lexi which caused her to cry harder because she wanted her daddy. Luckily the lady brought her to me, and she was fine. Oh, and also it was the end of the song, so even though she got down it wasn’t too bad. Not that anyone minded her getting down. In fact the whole crowd said “aww” as Lexi pouted and went running off the riser.
Oh, I also want to note the size difference between Lexi and the little girl next to her. The little girl is actually a month younger than Lexi. Hope you enjoyed the pictures! Check out The Natural Mommy for more meet and greet posts!
